I went to a ladies tea yesterday in Westlake Village for the organization, ChildHelp. ChildHelp is a national organization that helps prevent child abuse. Their main focus in the Ventura Chapter is on a home that they have set up for about 80 children and a private school that they send the kids too. They also have an anonymous abuse hotline that you can call if you or someone you know is abused. The organization had asked for 5 volunteers from the bank, but we were only able to get me and one other girl to volunteer. The tea was at a beautiful mansion in the hills. The backyard had a pool and overlooked the rolling hills and private golf course. I knew it was fancy when I had to give my name to get in the private gate. The tea started at 1, but they requested that we be there at 10:15. We were suppose to help with the silent auction. It was hot and in the sun, standing in high heels being rich ladies' slaves, for the most part. "Oh bank lady, bank lady where are you? I need you here, not there. Do you know what you are doing?" Fun fun. The silent auction stayed open for way too long, so we didn't have time to get all of the winners their information so that they could pay. They started getting antsy, lined up in the living room, yelling that they wanted their stuff. Still no one helped us. Finally, two ladies came and helped, but then screwed everything up further. When we were leaving, we heard them saying "I walked in the room, there were papers everywhere and they had no idea what they were doing." And on that note, we left. No goodbyes, thank you for having us, your home is lovely. We walked out the front door an hour and a half later than they had told us we would be there and didn't say a word. Rich people are lovely some times.
